Darkroom Prints

Each image in these galleries is a scanned copy of a unique silver gelatin print, produced by hand in the darkroom from a photographic negative. They are arranged in broadly-themed portfolios.

Many of the images are available for purchase, framed or unframed, mostly as 10” x 8” fibre-based prints, carefully toned with selenium to enhance their archival quality. Explore each portfolio to see the full story behind the images and discover prints that may become part of your collection.

The slightly cryptic gallery headings are drawn from the titles of songs that have featured through the years since I first set out as a teenager armed with a secondhand film camera at a concert.
